Description

Organic Shizukuishi is in Shizukuishi town in Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
We are an organization to connect organic farmers, consumers and relevant stakeholders intending to create future organic society. We are heading for the Organic 3.0 direction of IFOAM - Organics International. So, we are trying to make our best efforts to realize sustainable organic farming systems as well as introducing eco-friendly technologies for more organic produce. And besides we will develop strong ties among people through wide variety of PGS activities. This contributes deeper and healthier understanding of IFOAM PGS and better quality of organic produce. We believe that PGS activities are not simply the certification for small family farmers, but they have more aspects as follows which are different from third party certification as below.
- Trust promotions between PGS stakeholders and community people,
- Organic farming skill improvement to achieve sustainable PGS management,
- Contribution to expand organic farmlands,
- Revitalization of the community,
- Contribution of papers to Organic World Congress and Organic Asia Congress,
- Motions proposal at the IFOAM General Assembly for every three years.
To spread PGS activities in our country, we have been promoting the Allied PGS meetings since last year. This will facilitate for members to join the IFOAM-Organics International and PGS.
And besides, we have recognized the importance of the Organic Districts Movement around the world to increase organic farmers, however it would be difficult for local government to include in the movement so that this would be most challenging issues in the Allied PGS meetings.
In any case, we will do our best efforts for organic farmers to spend happy and enjoy nice day to day life.
